Care Guide

Your Bloomorix pieces are made to last for years, and a little routine care keeps them looking the way they did the day they arrived. Start with the everyday basics below, then jump to the room or material that matches your piece.

Everyday Care

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth. Dust is abrasive, and wiping it away often does more for a finish than any polish. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing, because rubbing pushes liquid deeper into fabric and spreads a ring on wood or stone. Use coasters, trivets and placemats, as heat and moisture do far more damage than ordinary use.

Avoid bleach, ammonia, harsh cleaners and scouring pads, which dull and damage most finishes. Keep furniture out of strong direct sunlight, since UV fades fabric, leather and wood unevenly over time. Keep pieces away from radiators, vents and fireplaces, because sudden swings in heat and humidity make wood move and joints loosen. Indoor pieces are meant for indoor use only. Always test a new cleaner on a hidden spot first.

Sofas, Sectionals and Accent Chairs

This covers sofas, loveseats, sofa beds, recliners, sectionals, accent chairs, ottomans and benches.

  • Vacuum weekly with an upholstery attachment, including under and behind the cushions.
  • Rotate and flip loose cushions every few weeks so they wear and soften evenly. Modular pieces can be swapped around for the same reason.
  • Plump and reshape cushions after use. A relaxed, lived in look is normal for soft seating and is not a fault.
  • Blot spills with a clean white cloth, working from the outside of the spill inward.
  • Check the cleaning code on the tag before using any cleaner. W means water based cleaners, S means solvent only, WS means either, and X means vacuum only.
  • For boucle and textured weaves, vacuum on a low setting and never pull a loose loop. Snip it level with sharp scissors.
  • For recliners and power pieces, keep the area under the footrest clear, never sit or stand on the open footrest, and unplug before cleaning near the motor or cables.
  • For sofa beds, open the mechanism fully and smoothly, and never force it or open it with cushions still in place.

Leather and Vegan Leather

  • Dust weekly with a dry cloth and brush the seams with a soft vacuum attachment.
  • Wipe spills straight away with a dry or barely damp cloth. Never soak leather.
  • Condition genuine leather every 6 to 12 months with a furniture leather conditioner, more often in dry or heated rooms.
  • Vegan and faux leather needs no conditioner. Wipe with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap, then dry.
  • Keep all leather away from direct sun and heat, which dry it out and cause cracking.
  • Genuine leather shows natural grain, marks and a soft patina over time. This is the character of real leather, not damage.

Coffee, End and Console Tables

Wood and Veneer

  • Dust along the grain with a soft dry cloth.
  • Clean with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, as standing water leaves marks.
  • Avoid silicone polishes and wax sprays, which build up and cloud the finish.
  • Lift objects rather than sliding them across the top.
  • Small seasonal movement is normal in wood. A room humidity of roughly 35% to 55% keeps it stable.

Ceramic, Sintered Stone and Glass Tops

  • Wipe with a soft cloth and warm water or a mild dish soap solution, then dry.
  • These tops resist stains well, but use coasters and trivets to avoid heat shock and chips on edges and corners.
  • For glass, spray the cloth rather than the glass so liquid does not run into the frame.

Faux Travertine, Faux Marble and Concrete Look

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth and a pH neutral cleaner only.
  • Avoid vinegar, citrus and bathroom cleaners, which can dull or etch the surface.
  • Blot coffee, wine and oil quickly, and always use coasters.
  • Variation in tone and texture from piece to piece is part of the look.

Dining Tables, Chairs and Bar Stools

  • Use placemats and trivets under plates, hot dishes and serving boards every time.
  • Wipe the table after each meal with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away.
  • Extendable tables: open and close the leaf slowly with two people, and keep the runners free of crumbs.
  • Check chair and stool screws once or twice a year and tighten anything that has loosened.
  • For upholstered chairs, vacuum the seat and blot spills as you would a sofa. For vegan leather seats, wipe with mild soapy water.
  • Swivel and counter stools: avoid leaning back on two legs or standing on the footrest.
  • Add felt pads under chair and stool legs to protect your floors and replace them as they wear.

Beds, Dressers, Nightstands and Mirrors

  • Upholstered headboards and bed frames: vacuum monthly and blot any marks with a clean cloth.
  • Check bed frame bolts and slats a few weeks after setup and then twice a year, as they can settle.
  • Use a mattress that suits the slat support, and avoid standing or jumping on the bed frame.
  • Open drawers with the handles or both hands, and do not overload them. Keep heavy items in lower drawers.
  • Always anchor tall dressers and chests to the wall with the included anti tip hardware, especially in homes with children.
  • For LED nightstands, unplug before cleaning and keep liquids away from the light strip and cable.
  • Clean mirrors with a lint free cloth, spraying the cloth rather than the glass so moisture does not reach the backing or frame.
  • Wood and veneer bedroom pieces follow the same care as wood tables above.

Desks and Office Chairs

  • Use a desk pad or mat under keyboards and laptops to prevent wear and heat marks.
  • Route cables so they are not pinched in drawers or under legs.
  • For L shaped and reversible desks, keep both returns level and check the connecting hardware twice a year.
  • Office chairs: wipe leather or vegan leather with a damp cloth, keep the casters free of hair and dust, and use a chair mat on hardwood or carpet.
  • Do not stand on an office chair or sit on the armrests, and keep the weight within the stated limit.

Outdoor Furniture

  • Rinse with clean water and a soft brush every few weeks, then let everything dry fully.
  • Teak and teak look wood: clean with mild soapy water. Teak naturally weathers to a silver grey, which can be refreshed with a teak cleaner if you prefer the golden tone.
  • Rattan, wicker and rope: brush out dust and debris, and avoid pressure washers, which fray the weave.
  • Metal frames: dry after rain and touch up any chips promptly to prevent rust.
  • Outdoor cushions: stand them on edge to drain after rain, bring them in during long wet spells, and store them dry.
  • Hanging chairs: check the stand, chain and hook before each season, and use the chair only on level ground.
  • Cover or store pieces during winter and long periods of bad weather to extend their life.

Wall Art and Decor

  • Dust framed art and canvases with a soft dry brush or microfiber cloth. Never spray cleaner directly on a canvas.
  • Hang art away from direct sunlight, bathrooms and kitchens, where light and steam can fade or warp it.
  • Use wall anchors rated for the weight of the piece, and hang larger works with two points for stability.
  • Sculptures and figurines: dust with a soft cloth or brush and avoid water and chemical cleaners on painted or metallic finishes.
  • Place heavy decor on stable, level surfaces away from edges.

Moving Your Furniture

  • Lift rather than drag. Dragging stresses joints and legs and can damage floors.
  • Carry pieces by the frame or base, never by the arms, back or tabletop.
  • Remove cushions, glass tops, shelves and drawers before moving.
  • Separate sectional and modular pieces and move them one at a time.
  • Use felt pads under all legs on hard floors.
